I snagged this fantastic book over a year ago and for a few dollars I own what I like to call "WWII for Dummies". I don't mean to say any of us are dummies when it comes to the history of WWII but there is so much that happened during those few years that one can easily become overwhelmed by it all. I know it has happened to me a few times.
V is for Victory: America Remembers World War II by Kathleen Krull contains ten chapters that get into the depth of WWII without overwhelming the reader. Honestly, I really feel this book would be great to use as a teaching tool for younger children who are just learning about this time in our history.
The chapters cover how the war began, Peal Harbor, the Home Front, The Holocaust, the Japanese Internment Camps, the most memorable personalities of the time, weapons, the ending of the war, and the lasting efforts of the war.
Each page includes photos and loads of tidbits of information. This is a definite must have for anyone wanting a more condensed but concise version of events on World War II.
This looks like a terrific read and also great general introduction to the era for youngsters. Thank you for reviewing another title that I now very much want to add to my bookshelves! :)
