Last month I was able to catch the entire Season Two of Endeavour on PBS. I know some of you mentioned to me that this season would knock my socks off and boy were you right!
This new season brings us to the spring of 1966 and Morse (Endeavour, played by Shaun Evans) has been recuperating from the gun shot wound he received at the end of Season One. Slowly he begins to pick up the pieces of his life and starts to form a routine again with Thursday ( Roger Allam).
The crimes and investigations are turned up a notch for this season and I found each one quite fascinating. I really try to focus on the details as Morse does so I can solve the crime with him but only once was I able to do that for episode three. Otherwise I was trying to figure them out until the very end.
I really enjoyed a new dynamic between Morse and Thurday. It seems like a healing and healthy relationship for Morse to have. He also strikes a romance with his neighbor, Monica Hicks who happens to be nurse and also a woman of color. Being 1966 it is interesting to see how they both manage their relationship although it seems she is more into him than he is into her. Or is that just Morse being Morse?
The last episode of Season Two was the most difficult to watch because it told a story that involved major corruption and pedophilia. This episode also leaves us with Morse in jail. Good grief what a cliff hanger! I cannot say anymore but you must watch this season as soon as possible.
I don't know how you feel about this show but to me it feels like warm like a cup of tea on a cool morning. I just adore Morse and find how he sees and approaches life refreshing from the other characters I have seen on television.
Only the final episode of the this season is available on PBS which you can watch HERE. They tend not to leave episodes on there for too long. But you can also purchase it HERE on Amazon. I defiantly want to add this show into my dvd collection.
Right now I am trying to find access to Season Two of The Paradise, Marchlands, and Lightfields but so far no luck. Have any of you seen any of these??
Have you seen Season Two of Endeavour already? What did you think of the last episode?
Lightfields is the follow up to Marchlands and both are excellent. The second season of The Paradise is ok, not as good as the first but still very watchable. I love how they always pitch it against Mr Selfridge the two are so similar!
ReplyDeleteI am on countdown for the new series of Endeavour. I have to say it somehow manages to makes my home town look more beautiful that it is.
I haven't caught a single episode yet, but will certainly be adding it to my TV viewing lineup for the coming months. That is one of the perks of fall and winter, isn't it? We're inside a lot more (usually, at least) and TV/Netflix marathons become part and part of daily life, at least some of the time.

I love Endeavour! And not just because I think Shaun Evans is one of the most beautiful men I've ever clapped eyes on, although that helps! It is such a great drama and I adore all the sixties stylings. The stories and characters are wonderfully compelling. Cannot wait for more!
