Ellen Burstyn is one of my favorite actresses and she recently celebrated her 90th birthday on December 7th. Each of her performances throughout the years have been raw, honest, and beautiful. My favorite films of hers Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974), Same Time, Next Year (1978), and Resurrection (1980). Each one is so special because her performances in them are multilayered and moving.

If you haven't seen any of her films, here are a few Ellen Burstyn films I think you might enjoy:

  1. Last Picture Show (1971)
  2. The Exorcist (1973)
  3. Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974)
  4. Same Time, Next Year (1978)
  5. Resurrection (1980)
  6. The Cemetery Club (1993)
  7. Requiem for a Dream (2000)
  8. Queen Bees (2021)
If you would love to learn more about her life you can read her autobiography, Lessons in Becoming Myself (2006)

I am in constant awe of her work. She hasn't stopped acting even though she is in her golden years. Soon she will be revisiting her character as Chris MacNeil from The Exorcist (1973) in the latest Blumhouse film based on the original from 1973.

Turning 90 is no small feat and its exciting to know that she is continuing to make films and do what she does best. Happy 90th Birthday, Ellen Burstyn!
