Let's All Move To Pickfair!

A Vintage Nerd
Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks are considered the first celebrity couple of Hollywood. During their sixteen year marriage they resided in what we now consider the blue print of "how to have a hollywood home".

They named their property Pickfair, a splendid name for an even more splendid estate. They truly set the tone on how to live like a celebrity.

Pickfair became the place where they held lavish parties with a whose who in Hollywood as well as many of their close friends such as; Charlie Chaplin. It became a sort of magical place where people felt like they were a part of something special. And I couldn't agree more!

Pool party anyone? Let's just slide down into the water and take a sip a champagne. Ohhh, can you image what was said at their parties?

Mary and Douglas not only enjoyed a good get together but also enjoyed hosting smaller gatherings. The photo below is of Mary in their patio setting up for one of their dinners. I must admit I wouldn't mind being invited and I wonder if Mary would let me borrow one of her dresses. She sure has some fantastic taste!

What do you think of having a suite of your very own decorating in shades of green and pink? Well Mary's suite was decorated in those colors and I wish there were color photos to see it in the way Mary did. It is just decorated beautifully. I am in awe of its splendor.

Have I convinced you yet of Pickfair's magnificence? I think we should all move their now! Well, at least in our vintage dreams we can!

  1. There objections whatsoever from me there!!! I can't begin to put into words how very, very much I would love to have a spacious house (and yard) like the stunning Pickford estate (or even just one a fraction of that size, so long as it finally gave us enough rooms and storage space).

Have a beautiful weekend, dear Daffny!

  3. I'd love to move to Pickfair. I can quite imagine all those lovely parties they had all the glorious fashions and music. Gloria Swanson talked a little bit about Pickfair in her autobiography.

  5. In an ideal world, media outlets would ignore the trivial banalities of celebrity meltdowns and focus primarily on the real world issues that concern us all. But they don’t.
