Looking Back On The Holidays....

Christmas this year was a hit in this vintage nerd's home! Yay for that! I did my best elf work and I even remembered to bite into Santa's cookie and drink the milk! Phew! Seriously, it's hard work being Santa's helper!

Since I have a really small family (outside of my own at home) I have been attempting to start my own holiday traditions. One like making reindeer cookies for Santa in which the kids decorate the cookies especially for the big guy in red. Another I have started is adding some more vintage into our celebrations. I did so this year by decorating our cake and cuppy cakes with 1950's and 1960's plastic Christmas decor. Oh, I loved them and so did the kiddies so they were a hit!

Another new thing I have tried this year was taking off the gate around the Christmas tree. And for the first time in four years I put ornaments on the tree. I scored some plastic round ones in Target and well the baby just broke maybe twenty *giggles*. Toddlers will be toddlers. I think he did a great job and I know every year that passes they will get used to the tree being exposed (minus the gate) and maybe one day I will be able to take out my collectible ornaments...maybe....

Last new tradition was introducing hot chocolate to my babies. I found these adorable 1950's Santa mugs on Etsy and it just made the whole event extra special.

Looking back on the holidays there was a lot of work involved but it was all worth it. It was magical and special and I am just grateful to have spent it with my family. What new traditions did you try out this year?

  2. Your sweet kids are getting so big, oh my gosh! It's cute that the boys had the same shirt on for that shot. My mom used to try and coordinate our holiday attire sometimes, too, when I was a youngster.
