39 New Experiences Before 40!

A Vintage Nerd, Vintage Blog, Vintage Birthday

January seems a bit far away but before you know it the New Year will be here. In the New Year I would have completed my 365 day blog challenge. I still want to keep challenging myself so I decided instead of making a big thing about turning 40, I want to go out of my 30's with a bang!

Starting on my 39th birthday on January 24th, I will begin a 39 New Experiences Before 40 Challenge. It will be completed throughout the entire year and it can be anything. I do limit myself on anything to do with heights, water, and eating bugs. Those things would not be fun for me to do.

So here are my requirements:
  • It has to start on my actual Birthday and end before my 40th Birthday (January 24th, 2016)
  • I cannot do anything that goes against my morals, values, or belief system
  • I cannot do anything that endangers my life or the life of others
  • I will not do anything that involves heights, water, eating bugs (I don't care if it has chocolate on it), or marking my body permanently.
  • It has to be something I have never done before
  • The act has to be well documented via photographs
  • The act has to be something I will find fun and enjoyable to do
  • I can include my family and friends in my activities (the more the merrier)
  • I have to complete 39 things I have never done before-no less than 39

There you go! Now why am I sharing this with you all? Well, it is because I want you to join in the fun and let me know what your suggestions would be for my 39 New Experiences Before 40 Challenge. They can be vintage related or not. Let me know what you think and perhaps some of your suggestions will make it to my list. So far I only came up with like 15 things so suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

To sweeten the pot, I will be going to do one giveaway each month in celebration of my exiting my 30's and entering my 40's. Whoot!

I'm excited about the New Year already! Lots of changes coming to my blog, my home, and my personal life. They are all good and positive changes and I look forward to sharing them with you as they become reality.

Here is to challenging yourself and trying new things! I can't wait to hear your suggestions and thank you!

  2. This sounds like a great challenge! I'm trying to think of things I've done that were unusual, new and exciting. I suppose my favourite thing to do is learn a new craft, and that provides a long list of possibilities. Other things I've done as a one-off and loved include Bollywood dancing, falconry, and staying the night at the zoo (and a friend has done the same among the dinosaurs at a museum). Painting a mural? Having a food fight? (My friends and I planned one in our early 20s but there were bushfires and we couldn't actually go outside because of the smoke, unfortunately, and it never happened.) I've always wanted to recreate a painting or movie scene or old photo, that could be vintage and fun!

(At first I started to type that my mind was a blank, but then it just started to pour out!)

  3. Oh, I love this idea. My 39th birthday is November 23rd so there is a possibility I could do something similar with you? Hmmm, maybe.... I'd love to hear some ideas of things to do, I agree about no bugs, heights, or water and of course nothing interfering with beliefs or morals. I'm excited to see where this goes.

  4. As a single woman who never had kids. In 5 months I will be 40, I am scared yet excited. I came across this purse size book "How to Become More Lovelier After Forty" http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOW-TO-BECOME-LOVELIER-AFTER-FORTY-BY-JOE-BONOMO-/271650000532?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f3f9a0e94 The book has some great tips on beauty, fashion and health. Plus why being 40 can be a fun and exciting time in life for any woman, maybe one can get a part-time job or travel more often. Reading this book has made me feel less scared and truly look forward to being 40.
