Must See TV: Christmas Specials

With the holidays comes super fun Christmas Specials from some of our favorite period shows. We have the Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, and Doctor Who Christmas specials to look forward too and they will all air on Christmas Day!

I know Doctor Who is technically not a period show but more of a sci-fi show but with the trips to the past and the fact that the show is 51 years old I feel like it offers a lot to the vintage television viewer.

The Doctor Who Christmas episode called Last Christmas which will feature Santa Claus himself is a must see for all DW fans.

Call the Midwife Holiday Special will air on December 25th at 8pm at your local PBS station. Season Four will premiere on March 29th, 2015 here in the states and you can read a bit more HERE.

The Downton Abbey Christmas Special will air on Christmas Day in the UK. It will air in the states after Season Five begins on January 4th on PBS which you can see HERE.

  1. I love when shows have a Christmas episode. :) While there aren't any I'm looking forward to this year,I tend to re-watch the old Christmas tv specials like the Bewitched and Monkees ones, and, of course, some of the Bing Crosby ones.

  2. Very much so! I always love it when TV shows get in on the festive season of things. I sooo hope that the CTMW special lands on Netflix. That's how I've been watching this series (it's so great!) and would hate to miss out on it.

  3. I enjoy a good Christmas special, and as a Dr. Who fan, it just doesn't seem like Christmas without the Dr. Saving the world from some impending alien doom on Christmas ;)

  4. I'll have to remember Call the Midwife, I was so gutted at the end of the season! I'm interested in seeing how to show does without Jenny at the center, although the other characters had been taking more and more screen time over the course of the last season.
