Celebrate A Birthday 1960's Style

January to me not only symbolizes a new year in the calendar but a new year in life for me. Today I turn forty-three and I'm looking forward to where the year will take me. I am hoping for more opportunities to create and more adventures. But before that all starts, today is about celebration. I like to bring a little vintage in my life in all sorts of ways so why not celebrate a birthday 1960's style.

Start your special day with some good grub. Mid-century recipes don't always look appetizing nor are they always appetizing (jello with peas and carrots anyone?) but they sure are fun to look at. Stuff your face and enjoy those who have come to celebrate you on your special day.

Pull out the party hats and party dresses. Dazzle yourself up. Why not? Today is your day. It's all about you so who cares if you doll up with a fancy dress and paper party hats. Party like its 1968!

It's time for cake! Throw in some balloons and streamers and you're set. Have everyone sing "Happy Birthday to you" and blow out all the candles. My will have 43!

After stuffing your face with good food and yummy cake, pull out some groovy (this slang word is actually a part of my slang repertoire) records and listening to some good tunes.

To wind down after all that celebration, pick up a good book or watch a movie. In my case I will be watching The Girl on a Motorcycle (1968) and I can't wait.

Adding a little vintage into your day is as easy as that. Put on some Tom Jones, throw some mini appetizers in the oven, and dress up in your favorite vintage dress. I love adding dashes of the past throughout my day and my birthday is no exception. Would you celebrate your special day in a vintage way?
