My Vintage Vinyl Record Collection

I remember fondly when my mother would put her Barry Manilow record on the record player and we would listened to the songs playing while we lounged in the living room. Vinyl records not only make music sound amazing but they are just pure nostalgia. They have a way of transporting you to another time and place.

Recently my husband and I decided to combine our collections and create a little nook in our bedroom so we can have easy access to our records. Most of the soundtracks are mine and most of the 80's rock is his but they are so great to listen too. So far I think I have a soft spot for soundtracks, Doris Day, and classic Christmas albums.

I also acquired my mother's Elvis records. She loved Elvis and adding her records into my collection has been special. There is nothing like Elvis's voice on vinyl.

Do you collect vinyl records? If so, which are your favorites? Are there any that you think I should add to my collection?

  1. I don't have room for vinyl - too many other piles of stuff - but I love seeing record covers, there was a real art to them. (I have a soft spot for 70s ones, when there were some prog rock ones with amazing artwork on.)

    1. I agree! Record covers really had some incredible art on them. I hear you about soft spots. Some of my records just transport me to another place and time. Its pretty magical. :) xox

  2. Yes! There is indeed pure nostalgia with records. I remember getting my first record player in college and just thinking I was transported back to the 50s and 60s with my pile of thrift store finds.

I've sadly had to curb my collection over the years, and need to be picky about what I buy. I try to stick to only what I'll really listen to. Some of my favorite albums are comedy albums, like Bob Newhart and Steve Martin.

    1. Those albums sound so great! I want to get a Lenny Bruce record. They can be so fun but you're right, after a while it can get out of hand. I'm like that with my dvds and books. xox
