Being More Authentic

Being Authentic. To be more real, more honest, and in the end-more myself. And that has resulted in this "new" blog, A Vintage Nerd.

A few weeks ago my blog Bunny's Victory suddenly didn't work. I was crushed when that happened. I told myself I can do two things: stop blogging or try my hand at something I have been deeply thinking to do for a few months now. Best not to look at the downside of things and look at how you can make something positive out of a negative....right?

That resulted in my quest for being more authentic with myself and with others. I didn't expect to revamp my image as a blogger or start over in some ways in the blogging community but I find that being able to combine my two loves-family and blogging-has made me happier. I also have found that going by my natural name and not my stage name as made me feel more honest and it feels great!

I loved being Bunny, it is my nickname at home and I also call my daughter by that nickname. But I used my stage name because at the time I was delving more into pinup than I was into vintage.

I have been blogging since the summer of 2011 and it has been a complete joy for me. I didn't want to stop just because I hit a snag. I have always had a passion for writing and for creative expression. And I cannot tell you how happy I was to be able to find such an outstanding community of bloggers, especially in the vintage world.

In the end I created a blog that is closer to my way of thinking and expression than I did in the past. Bunny's Victory will always be a part of me and a link was found to that blog (not the .com) that actually worked (how ironic) so feel free to look back at past posts.

I do not consider this a new blog but rather an extension of the last one.

A Vintage Nerd will follow my journey into living a more authentic and vintagey life through my love of learning. So I will share fantastic book reviews and magazines as well as cinema spotlights. I will continue to incorporate fashion into my blog but it will always be linked to something I learned or was inspired by.

The types of reading material you will see I took a sample of in the photos below. Vintage magazines, cinemas magazines, modern magazines with vintage articles within them, autobiographies, biographies, beauty/hair/fashion books, as well as vintage pamphlets/booklets.

I am really excited about all of these changes! I love to hear from my readers so feel free to follow me on my Instagram, Snapchat (avintagenerd), or Pinterest. Also feel free to email me anytime and don't be shy about recommending a book/film that you think would be wonderful to read/see. I love hearing what people think and welcome any suggestions!

Welcome to A Vintage Nerd

  6. I actually suffered a similar situation years ago. That blog had a focus on movies and my personal life. When I could no longer blog there, my husband (then boyfriend at the time) built me my current blog. I'm glad you chose to keep blogging and I can't wait to read your reviews on various books and such!

  18. So, I'm a little late to this party but I wanted to see your first post. I love "Ghost Story"! Have you seen the movie with Fred Astaire? It leaves out a lot but it's a great movie with tons of 1920s style inspiration.

    2. I haven't read it all the way yet. I'm going to have to start from the beginning since it's been 4 years since I've put it down haha. The woman that plays Eva is gorgeous and her house makes me feel bad about my own haha. I saw your 60s hair post on facebook this morning and was hooked :)
