An Afternoon at the Brooklyn Farmacy

avintagenerd

I have been wanting to go to Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain for sometime now. I finally had the chance this Friday and my husband being the foodie that he is was game in checking it out. We brought the baby with us while the kiddies were still in school and headed out to Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.

I have never been in that part of Brooklyn and boy is it pretty! To say that the Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain is everything I thought it would be is an understatement. It was so much more!

First I have to say how much I admire and appreciate how the brother-sister owners, Peter Freeman and Gia Giasullo kept so much of the original 1920's Pharmacy intact. I love how they used items from the original store as part of their decor and utilize many pieces as well.

I felt right at home as we sat down and our orders were taken. The staff is so nice and relaxed and friendly. You just don't see that very often. I felt like Norm when he went into Cheers and everyone would shout "NORM!". Except no one knew me but I felt welcomed.

I shared my blog card with our waitress and asked if I could take some photos of the inside so you could see what it was like. I was so happy and grateful when she said yes.

Did I mention that it is child friendly? They had baby highchairs and my little guy could be the silly boy he is without anyone staring or making sour faces. People were so nice and down to earth there. Really, really refreshing.

I ordered a traditional egg salad sandwich and I have to say the flavors just popped in my mouth! I am particular about my egg salad sandwiches as I have been a fan of them since I was little and this one did not disappoint!

You can see more of their amazing Menu HERE.

After our meal I was lucky to meet one of the owners, Gia. What a wonderful person she is! She was warm and friendly and just lovely to meet! I felt very lucky!

And as we were exiting I spotted the new book that the owners of Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain just released. I didn't get a chance to peak inside but I did add it to my Amazon list. You can find it HERE and if you are interested in having it spotlighted in my AVN Book Club, just say the word!

Vintage Brooklyn
Novelty Print

I wanted to share with you this last bit, a closer look at the novelty print dress I am wearing. I can see why so many people are fans of novelty prints. They have such character and are truly unique. If you like this shade of nail polish I am wearing it is from the Brazilian Collection from OPI called Where Did Suzi's Man-go?

And iff you are ever in Brooklyn I really think that the Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain is a must-go spot to eat tasty food, indulge in sweet ice creams, and take in the ambiance of an establishment that is celebrating the past while living in the present.

I included a slew of links to the Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain with all their social network sites. Stop by and say hi! This is definitely a place where I will be taking my family often! Cannot wait to go again!
