Vintage New York: Coney Island

A Vintage Nerd, Vintage New York, Vintage Coney Island, Historic Landmarks of New York

Coney Island was the place to go to for New Yorkers who wanted to get away from the city life and their neighborhoods. Coney Island was a place where they could get some sun, swim, have a blast with the rides, and eat a Nathan's hot dog.

Here is a look at what Coney Island looked like in the past:

  1. Have you seen the film "Coney Island" from 1917 (Fatty Arbukcle, Al St John and Buster Keaton are in it)? I've been quite intrigued with Coney Island since watching that film. There's also a Harold Lloyd film that had some really great shorts of a lot of the rides (I think it was in "Speedy" but I don't quite recall). I've never been to Coney Island, but images of the "vintage Coney Island" are certainly intriguing. Thanks for sharing these great photos!

  2. What smile-inducingly fun photos! :) Coney Island has always struck me as one of the funnest places in the states back in the day. If I was on a time machine guided tour through America, it would definitely be one of my stops. :)
