Ring-a-Ding Girl was The Twilight Zone's 13th episode of Season 5. It starred Maggie McNamara as Bunny Blake who comes from a small town called Howardsville where her sister still lives with her family. Bunny left her small town years before to make it big in Hollywood and when she became a big movie star she never forgot her family and fans back in Howardsville.
On her way to film a movie in Rome she receives a package from her fan club in Howardsville. Inside the package is a ring which Bunny wears immediately. She explains to her manager that she will always be grateful to the people in Howardsville because they were the ones who chipped in to help her pursue her career in acting in Hollywood.
When she looks at her special ring she somehow sees her sister Hildy (played by Mary Munday) imploring her to come back home to Howardsville. Bunny immediately changes her plans and visits her sister Hildy and her nephew Bud. Bud tells Bunny about the Founder's Day Picnic that will take place that afternoon and Bunny continues to receive messages from her ring. To everyone's shock and confusion Bunny decides to put on a show at her old High School as a thanks to her town. Unfortunately people begin to assume that Bunny is a Hollywood snob and they all continue with their plans to attend the Founder's Day Picnic.
Bunny senses that she has to do everything in her power to get the townspeople and her loved ones away from the Founder's Day Picnic area. At the end of the episode we learn that Bunny's plane crashes in the area where the picnic was to be held and because of the show she planned to give she saved many people from dying. Many people in town including Hildy and Bud are confused because they know they interacted with Bunny but sadly Bunny dies in that crash.
It was because she listened to the messages she was receiving that she was able to somehow help her loved ones to safety that afternoon. There is something incredibly valuable about listening to your instincts whether they come to you as signs, in dreams, in messages around you, or simply as a gut feeling. For Bunny it came through an object that was given to her with great love and because of that love and connection she was able to respond to the messages that were given despite not fully understanding why she was getting them.
This episode is deeply haunting and beautiful. Maggie McNamara is a revelation in this episode.
