I decided to begin a new series of posts here on A Vintage Nerd to help those who want to delve more deeply into classic film but might feel overwhelmed by all the choices before them. There are so many great films to watch whether they had outstanding performances, incredible singing and dancing, thought provoking messages, inspirational dialogue, or moving scenes; there are a lot of wonderful classic films to watch.
In this series I will recommend five films from specific actors and actresses body of work. I will only recommend films that I have seen personally. I will do my best to introduce you to a wide range of their work. First up is Joan Crawford who was the epitome of a Old Hollywood movie star. She once said, "I never go outside unless I look like Joan Crawford the movie star."
Here are five film recommendations that will give you a good introduction to Joan Crawford's work. If you watch these you will be dazzled, moved, shocked, disturbed, and saddened by her performances in these iconic films. Let me know if you watch any of these as they are some of my favorites of her work. Are there any Joan Crawford films that you would recommend?
The Women (1939)
Mildred Pierce (1945)
