I discovered this interesting little mini documentary called Time Warp Wives. It viewed it with eager interested and thought I would share it with you all. It was released in 2008 in the UK when vintage wasn't as popular as it is now but it was growing exponentially throughout England in particular.

It follows four women whose ages range from 20 to perhaps 40. Two are married and each lives their lives according to a specific decade ranging from the 1930's to the 1950's.

I think if you are going to say you are into something especially on camera like they did, find a balance in how present and represent yourself. Also, I found their lifestyles to be profoundly materialistic. The 1930's housewife had over 70 shoes which was not the case for the average woman in the depression-era. 

I am sure each of those ladies are lovely women in person but they depicted the women to be as materialistic as the modern world is. They have the vintage car, the wardrobe, the kitchen, and even the furniture but I found they did NOT grasp the old fashioned values and true lifestyle of the women of that time. It's great to have the stuff and the look but if you say you are living it then live it completely and realistically. 

I would have been more impressed with this documentary if these women lived realistically, incorporating the best of both the modern and vintage worlds. To act so disgusted by the modern world and yet behave like a modern women, I just did not understand.

Personally, I would have loved to seen woman who literally live the old fashioned lifestyle that women did back then. Balancing everyday housewifery with a spouse and children to boot. Sounds like my life and slew of other amazing vintage bloggers out there. It can be done!

I do recommend that you see this for yourself and form your own opinions on it. I wish they would do another one day.

Barbarella wasn't a hit in the cinema's when it came out in 1968 but when it was re-released in 1977 it became a cult classic. With that being said finding anything from this film especially circa 1968 is a big deal, in particular to collectors or cinephiles (those are fond of films).

I did find some things that I thought would be neat to look at. Hope you like them! Barbarella inspired fabric by Alexander Henry can be found HERE via Etsy. You can make your own Barbarella inspired dress with this fabric-oh how cool would that be.

The 1960's was a decade of change and experimentation. One such film that was created to blow your senses and your imagination out of the water was Barbarella (1968).

Starring Jane Fonda and directed by Roger Vadim  and set in the distant future. Barbarella is asked to seek out Doctor Durand Durand (the 1980's band named themselves after this character but spelled it Duran Duran) who has in his possession a weapon called a Positronic Ray. Earth is now peaceful and the President of Earth asks Barbarella to protect the peace that is in existence by retrieving that weapon.

Barbarella encounters all sorts of odd folk on her journey (or adventure) to finding Durand Durand (Milo O'Shea). A man who is wearing  what looks like a body of hair outfit, dolls who have sharp teeth (they are freaky), wild children, a blind (and beautiful) angel named Pygar, a resistance fighter named Dildano, the Queen of Sogo, and eventually Durand Durand himself.

All throughout her wild adventures and misadventures Barbarella goes through outfit change after outfit change that would make any fashion designer just fall at her feet in awe. They are insane and amazing and sexy and well-see for yourself! Barbarella is one of those rare films that also portrays a female lead as the hero. I also love how Fonda blends a believable amount of innocence and maturity into her character. There is a "no holds barred" approach to the sexual innuendos of this film but I attest that to the "free love" attitude of the late 1960s (and well into the 1970s). I view this film as a piece of psychedelic art. It trips you out and takes you to another world. Just like any good 1960's sci-fi film should do.

If you like campy, unique, and quirky films with a dash of sci-fi then you will love this film. I know a few people think I am bonkers for loving this film but I do-I so do! It is just so out-of-this-world, so psychedelic that it blows me away every time I see it. There is no other film quite like this and Jane Fonda just sizzling as Barbarella-no one can deny that.

For those of you who are fans of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, I thought I would share an update on the status of the show.

A few months ago I spotlighted this amazing Australian period show HERE as a part of my Must See TV series. I also posted how we as viewers and fans and help save the show HERE.

I have been digging around and reading every post and tweet I can find in order to see if they will commission a third season and unfortunately it is still up in the air. It seems that ABC is excited about renewing the show but because of budgets cuts they may not approve of a third series.

I really really hope that does not happen. There aren't many shows who have amazing writing and story lines and then add a a period piece and insanely amazing customs and well that is as good as it gets. Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries is that and more.

I will keep you posted as I keep my eyes and ears peeled to see what happens. If you haven't seen this show based on a series of books written by Kerry Greenwood, then you can watch Series 1 on Netflix. Series 2 aired this past fall and ended with the Christmas special on December 22, 2013. They aired in Australia but you can watch it here in the states if you use a safe site called Tunnelbear.  In case you wondered how I watch my favorite UK and Australian shows, that is how.
