When you think of Coca-Cola at Christmas you can't help but think of Santa with his fluffy white beard and stunning red outfit handing out soda pop for everyone to drink. But when Coca-Cola started introducing Santa to their customers in December 1931 suddenly Christmas just wasn't the same again. And in a good way!
An illustrator named Haddon Sundblom would go on to create holiday ads featuring Santa for Coca-Cola from 1931-1964. Those same images are still being used today on bottles, cans, and 12 packs. If Mad Men taught us anything, it taught us the power of good advertising.
And so the jolly ole soul we know and love today was created and forever connected with some good old fashioned Coca-Cola. I love traditional images and colors and nothing nicer for me than green, red, and white on Christmas. Adding some retro Coca-Cola Santas into my Christmas decor sounded like a great plan so Retro Planet and I teamed up and I wanted to share with you how gorgeous these decals they sent me are.
The decals are easy peasy to put on and the best bit is that they are reusable. For more information on these incredible decals you can read more HERE. All the Coca-Cola items at Retro Planet are officially licensed by The Coca-Cola Company.
All you have to do is follow these four steps and you too can have you walls decorated with Retro Coca-Cola Santas:
- Remove the decals from the tubes and flatten them out on a table carefully overnight. We used books and placed them on top to help flatten them out a bit more.
- For large decals you can use blue painters tape to help you hold it in place. For the smaller decals you can just easily peel from the corner and remove the white backing.
- The you press your decals into the wall and using a credit card to smooth it out.
- For the larger decals you follow the same steps except that you are you using the painters tape to hold the decal in place.
Retro Planet sends you detailed instructions as well as a test decal to try on your wall before you place the one you purchased. It really is incredible easy to do and it adds such a gorgeous retro flair to your home. If you are interested in purchasing some of these decals take a peak HERE.
