A Vintage Nerd Book Club: Everything I Need to Know I Learned from a Little Golden Book

avintagenerd

The other day I received this amazing little book from a friend of mine and I immediately tore into it. Needless to say this is one of the books that I keep by my nightstand.

Many of us grew up reading and looking through the pages of the Little Golden Books. A small hard covered book with gold binding and beautiful drawings typically telling meaningful stories easily became a "go-to" book for children.

The first twelve Little Golden Books were published in 1942 and they are still in high demand today. You can also find books based on current children's films ie Planes, Frozen, and Lego Movie to name a few.

Everything I Need to Know I Learned from a Little Golden Book is a keeper. You will find original Little Golden Book drawings accompanied with wise words that we can all follow and apply to our everyday lives.

I think the introduction to this book is the best intro I have EVER read! I hope you can read it via the photos I took. The author really lays it all out on the table and gets to the nitty gritty of the basic problems with our world. I really appreciated her honesty and approach to bringing a bit more joy and hope into our everyday lives with this book!

  4. Aww, that's an awesome little book! I remember reading Golden Books when I was a kid - The Saggy Baggy Elephant definitely has a bit more of a ring to it now, though.

  5. Well that's gone on my Christmas wish list! The Pokey Little Puppy and many more featured on our shelves. We should still have them all somewhere, and I look forward to getting them out for my kids.

  6. I keep seeing book reviews for this and having had (actually I still have them) quite few as a child, I'm thinking I need a copy of this. :)
